Why gimmicks don’t work!

Comments (2) Gimmicks don’t work in quitting smoking. Here’s why:
Quitting smoking (however you attempt it) is in the end a process that takes some willpower. Even more so, staying quit also takes some willpower although much less and more spread apart. No drug, gum or shot in this world can give you the willpower you need to stop smoking.
What these things do give you is the illusion of willpower. They make you think they are doing all the work and you are just a happy satisfied customer of nauseating gum, hypnosis sessions, blockers and happy pills.
You don’t need this crap to “gradually ween you off”. “Gradually ween off” sounds so great doesn’t it? Maybe it also means you can still sneak one in now and then without feeling guilty cause..you know..it’s gradual.
But it’s bullshit and you know it. You know that in the end the time for that last cig is going to come and no drug in the world will stop you from making it the one before the last. So in the end you lied to yourself, you really have, and also shortened your life just a little bit more, got one step closer to that chronic bronchitis or enphezima or cancer you’re so afraid of.
Quitting is not gradual. It’s abrupt. It’s even savage for the first week but it passes. Get on with it and stop being a coward. Shelling out money for gimmicks won’t give you your health back. Realize you’re weak and change the damn fact. And stop being scarred.
