I am quitting cigarrettes tomorrow

No joke, tomorrow is my quit date. Not that it means anything, and certainly not to you, not that I am going to actually succeed in quitting, but that’s definitely the plan.

I told my mom I was quitting. I told my other half. I told my business partner. I told my Yucca plant. The only person I haven’t convinced yet is me. I’m terrified of the prospect of giving up cigarettes! I love smoking, smoking and drinking is the best. Also up there is smoking after a meal, during a long phone call, first thing in the morning and really smoking just to pass time.

You might wonder if I toned down the said smoking this week. No. I didn’t. In fact while writing this I’m thinking this would all come out much better if I lit up one. Ahhhhhhhhh [I lit up] .

I don’t really smoke a lot. A pack/a pack and a half a day is not a lot. The way I figure I smoke one about every hour and when I’m stressed maybe one every half an hour. I spend about 10 minutes smoking a cig so that means at best I spend 10x 15=150 minutes a day smoking. Come to think of it that’s 2.3 hours. Hmm.. sure explains a lot. Anyway, I like smoking. I know I am “addicted to it” and “powerless” and all the other things straight out of the AA books. But common, the drug is smart enough to make me oversee all the negatives and to make me like it. I’m a smart person…might as well do smart drugs ;) hehe. No really now, this blog is meant to help me quit and focus on the drugs negatives and my positives. So without further a due (thank you spell check I never knew how to spell that) here is my “Reasons List”. You might say but cigquitter that’s definitely a move from the AA books. You’d be right. I plan to use any and all techniques to quit smoking…cold turkey and without nicotine supplements. Let’s not be retarded and forget that nicotine is what I am addicted to in the first place not the tar and the other millions of chemicals they put in cigarettes. That gum makes me sick to my stomach anyway.

And if you are wondering, this is my first attempt. Let’s summarize:

1. I love smoking (aka I am addicted)

2. I smoke 1-1/2 packs a day (Marlboro if you care to know)

3. Been smoking for 5 years (this one is new)

For quick reference I am making a new category for reasons to quit. You are welcome to discuss/post/slander or have a cigarette while pondering about them.
